1940 camping |
The weather is finally warming up around here! I LOVE the Springfield area for its abundance of outdoor fun. We have caves, rivers, lakes, hiking, climbing, all the good stuff! I just adore being out in nature. It rejuvenates my soul and awakens the adventurer in me like nothing else. My alter ego, Jeremiah Johnson, comes out (for those of you who have seen that movie! I put the trailer below to explain for those of you who haven't). I like climbing trees, building fires, *trying* to chop wood (it's hit and miss, literally), cooking, sitting and looking at the stars, hearing the wind rustle in the trees..... Sigh.
...Though absent long,
These forms of beauty have not been to me,
As is a landscape to a blind man's eye:
But oft, in lonely rooms, and mid the din
Of towns and cities, I have owed to them,
In hours of weariness, sensations sweet,
Felt in the blood, and felt along the heart,
And passing even into my purer mind
With tranquil restoration....

Soon my dorm floor and I will do an all-ladies camping trip around the area. I'm looking forward to it SO much! It also got me thinking.... What vintage look could one wear camping or hiking or doing outdoorsy stuff? If I could have my wish, this would be the perfect vintage outdoorsy outfit for me!
heart pocket shorts | wool socks | vintage hiking boots | 1940s sweater | 1950s jacket | backpack | red diamond tea | beef jerky pocket knife
And now for some more vintage inspiration (and eye candy!) for you guys!

adorable. And look at the sweet motorcycle with a sidecar!!! |
Freddies of Pinewood jeans are a definite must have for any vintage girl doing anything outdoorsy. I highly recommend them, I have two pairs of their jeans and they are wonderful!

I'm glad you like it, Lindsey! I'm also a fan of those shorts. I just love such details.
DeleteYour blog is also really cute! I'll be following you!
Awesome post and fantasy outdoor outfit. I've always utterly adored camping and spending time in the great outdoors, too (which, I'm sure, is no small part of the fact that I took to Girl Guides as a youngster like a duck to water). Hope you have a stellar time on your camping trip!

What a fun post on camping, first of all! Those pictures are so full of personality (and vintage inspiration, too!).
