Now with my family, Easter is a pretty big deal. Not only are we super pumped about it because we're Christians and we're really glad that we center our lives on Jesus who's alive, not dead, but it's also a time to gather lots of random friends and spend time with each other.
I affectionately label my mother the "Martha Stewart" type in that she has a themed party for everything and does a great job at it. To give you insight into what hospitality with her is like, here are some pictures from a past year:
(She came up with all of this while living in Egypt, may I add.)
So, I won't lie that the prospect of Easter with just my sister and I in a dorm wasn't quite as exciting. However, we were DETERMINED to have a fun Easter nonetheless! It was great to have some of the "fluff" of the holiday removed. Do I like easter egg hunts? You bet. And festive tables? Oh yes. Will I do that sort of thing next year? Yeah! But it was so sweet to get back to the basics of what Easter is. It's the freedom to interact with God on a personal basis because Jesus died. It's the ability to live a life of contentment, peace and joy because Jesus is alive again. It's friends; it's family; it's rejuvenation!
To celebrate, Aria and I went with our friend Anna to an awesome church service, ate a traditional Easter lunch of Korean food (it's traditional for Koreans......), then did a quick spring photo shoot at a park in town. (Mothers do love to see such pictures, I hear. Especially when their kids are in college.) Here are some of the results:

What a sweetly beautiful Easter dress. I just love that shade of mint meets aqua. It has such a classic, yesteryear feel to it and suits early spring to a tee.

Thank you so much! I saw the color and had to do something with the dress. It's my favorite color!
DeleteYour outfit is amazing! Love the dress (hard to believe it was originally a horrible 80s/90s creation) and also the hat is giving me major hat envy. I must try making one myself!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement! I was little unsure about the hat at first (some girls told me it looked a bit like an old lady visor, haha), so it's good to get some affirmation! I can now wear it more bravely!
DeleteYou look so classy! Love the dress!
