Now that it finally feels like spring here in Missouri, I've got a new coat! Good timing, eh?
I haven't bough a real coat since I was 15 years old (I just don't really grow, haha), so I figured it was about time to get a new one. I really wanted a vintage one that would look good with pencil skirts and dresses and such, but the ones I saw either didn't fit me at all or were too far out of my price range. It was sad.
Then..... I saw it.
It was a perfect 1940s wool coat.
I checked the measurements.... still perfect!
I checked the price..... ATTAINABLE!
Needless to say, I was so excited!!! I took a day to think about it and not impulse buy, then I finally decided to throw down the bucks and buy the beautiful thing! I checked my mail every day, and when it arrived I promptly tore it out of the package and put it on. It. Fit. Perfectly.
I'm a tiny person; that never happens!!! It's meant to be.
I bought it from thesarahmarieshop on Etsy. It's missing a button on the bottom, but I'm going to search out a matching or at least similar fabric to make a new button for it. The rest of the coat is just amazing! I love it I love it I love it.
Then, this is the first time I've worn the blue hat. I found it in a vintage shop in Cardiff, Wales. Though I didn't think to measure it to see if it would fit in my suitcase, I managed to barely get it in. (You better believe I would have worn that giant blue hat inconspicuously through the airport if it didn't, though!) I don't know that it's actually very old, but I think it has a classic style that works with my wardrobe. And for only £8!!!
I love them both! The first and third pictures of you are especially lovely.
ReplyDeleteMy sister is good at "artsy" photography, though I usually inhibit her skills for this blog because I want the whole outfit to show, or something ridiculous like that, haha! Thanks for the sweet comment, friend!
DeleteWhat a perfect fit! Really love the versatility the coat will offer, too. The blue hat with the toile dress is really beautiful. The whole look is classic!
ReplyDeleteI know, right?! I LOOOOOVE it. Great investment. And I picked that blue hat knowing it would go perfectly with that dress. (I wore it for Easter last year, remember? Btw, I was once again the only person wearing an Easter hat in church. How ridiculous is that?!)
DeleteWho wouldn't look for a reason to wear a beautiful hat? Easter is a gimme! And I love toile anything really...
DeleteThat coat is bursting with timeless elegance and style. I really think it's one of those pieces that will become an "I can't believe I got along without it" kind of staple in your wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful early spring look, dear gal!

Thanks so much Jessica! I think you're completely right. I can't believe how I got along without it already!
