Salmon (fish) and sea foam (mint) are two of my favorite colors in the world, and I LOVE them together. Hence this outfit!
Also, I realize that my hair isn't very 30s/40s vintage-y at all, but some days I really just want to leave my hair alone and let it be free to blow in the wind. Today was one of those days! To my chagrin, I haven't run across any 30s/40s hairdos that go with straight hair. Very sad.
Do you guys have any "free hair" days or something similar when you just want to drop an aspect of your favorite decade? What do you do?

My natural hair is (was - ok, that's still a bit strange to get used to saying, even after a season of wearing a wig) bone straight, too, and much as I adore the curled/wavy styles of the 30s-50s, I can't begin to tell you how many times I secretly wished there had been even just a few styles for straight locks back in those days, too. (Braided pigtails are about the closest thing.)
ReplyDeleteLovely outfit and colour combination. I adore both of those hues, too, and Tony is a big fan of salmon as well (and not just because he's an avid angler :D), so I like to inject it into my wardrobe whenever possible.

I'm glad to know I'm not alone in my straight hair difficulties! Braided pigtails could be a good option, except I already look much younger than I am, and I think the pigtails would only make that worse..... I get offered kids' menus, and I'm 21 years old. I may have to skip on the pig tails. :)
DeleteI am so lazy in terms of curling my hair so I can totally understand wanting to leave it unstyled some days! Actually just recently my hair is unstyled and straight far more often than it is styled and curled at the moment but I loves buns and chignons to give my straight hair a more vintage look. A 40s back roll works wonders as well!
ReplyDeleteThat's very true, buns could definitely work... I have a couple sock buns in sight at this very moment! Good idea!
DeleteHair can be such an effort some days. I think we all like to have a day to let it be free. I find a great do-rag can work great for those days as well!
