Teddy Girl Outfit

Flashback Summer: Teddy Girl Outfit

It has finally arrived!  Here are the pictures from the Teddy Girl shoot my sister and I did.  We found a perfect place downtown in an industrial area that somewhat resembles the bombed-out and slum settings in which the Teddy Girls and Boys were often photographed.

The Teddy Girl style was a really fun one to try out.  It feels so modern and trendy in some ways, but it still has those vintage roots I love so much!  I won't lie, I also felt kind of B.A. wearing it; I had a bit more swag walking across campus, haha!  I think I got into the gangster part of the Teddy Girl culture for just a little bit that day.

What do you guys think of the look?  Does it seem more modern or more vintage to you?

P.S. Don't forget to enter the Valentine's Day giveaway!  It closes on Feb. 21st!

  1. Ooooooooh! I really REEEEEALLY love it! It seems modern to me, but the hair and "ear bobs" give it a fab vintage appeal. Also the skinny jeans with legs rolled up are SO SO on trend and perfect! I'm trying to figure out how I would wear this but with a short hairstyle? Slick it down? Random curls? A headband? What do you think? Help?!

    1. A short hairstyle is actually very accurate! Check out the 6th, 8th, and 12th pictures on the historical Teddy Girl post here:

I think if you just did lots of little curls (like pin curls, or other tight curls), then brushed it into a pouffy perm-like shape like those girls have, it would be perfect! Or, in the case of the last picture, just curl the ends under and pin a little roll on the side front.

I want to see how it turns out!

  3. Really, really awesome shots. You guys did great - the location is perfect, your outfit rocks, and the gritty B&W treatment really adds a lot to these teddy girl photos. Very cool work!

  4. Whoa, I really like your hairstyle. The neckscarf with the updo is amazing! I agree with Jessica that the black and white effect adds to the vintage feel. Belted sweater is a nice touch. You really meld the feel of vintage with modern. Kudos to Aria for her great work, too! You two make a Dynamic Duo.
