As I shared about in my last post, I received this fabric c/o Ankara & Lace.  I took their style quiz, and I was quite pleased with this fabric they picked out!  I wanted to try something new with it, so I talked to my friend Esther.

Esther and her family just moved to the U.S. last year through a refugee resettlement program.  She and her husband are on staff with me at church, and Esther sews wonderful African garments!  I gave her this fabric and asked her to design something for me.  She created this jumpsuit, and I tweaked it to fit.  Of course, the extra fabric had to be made into a headwrap!  I first wore it at a multicultural banquet my church hosted, and Esther wore another original piece she made as well!

I got to collaborate with Ashley of Your Best Image Photography to try something new for the blog, too.  Since Jacob is away, it's up to me to get photos of myself for the blog.  I'm not actually very keen on photography and in addition was getting tired of the ol' tripod and remote system... so it was time to switch it up.  Ashley and I went to a concrete park in town, and in just a few minutes I got these awesome snaps!  It's quite handy having a photographer around!

After several years of sewing and blogging, it's nice to switch it up every once in a while and try something new.  Getting to collaborate with friends is a bonus!

  3. I love this. The jumpsuit is so different- yet it does look so vintage too, because of how you have styled it.

    1. Thank you! I do try to still have that vintage vibe with not-so-obviously-vintage pieces so it still feels me-ish.
