For years, I have wanted some lace-up, leather vintage boots, and for years, like Ahab's Moby Dick, they have eluded me.

This past week, however, Honey Talk Vintage had a 50% off sale, and thanks to my grandmother's generosity, I got these amazing beauties!  They are slightly big for me, but..... who cares?  They're boots; it doesn't matter!

I checked my mailbox for days, waiting for the arrived package notice.  Finally, it arrived and I practically ran to the campus post office!  I grabbed the package and promptly ripped into it.  I then tried the boots on (after a long time of unlacing, tightening, and relacing)..... and I melted inside.  They're amazing.

Now, granted, these boots are from the 1930s and they aren't perfect.  But they are INCREDIBLE nonetheless, probably one of the top vintage finds of my life!!!  I'm going to invest some money soon and get them resoled and fixed up in the areas that need some TLC.  But obviously, I am in love and shall pretty much keep them forever.

I insisted that Aria and I go to a new place in a park I found outside of Springfield for a proper photo shoot to memorialize these boots forever.  I think it turned out pretty amazing!

  1. What a find! Plus, I love your dress and the photo shoot. You always look lovely in them, but in this one you look like you're having so much fun. :)

  2. I love them! I've been looking for a pair of lace-up boots as well but the style I want is, where I live, less like Moby Dick and more like hens' teeth or the Loch Ness Monster.

  3. Ah, you lucky girl!! I was looking at those boots too but then decided I "needed" (ha!) new heels instead. :) I would highly recommend using Lexol leather conditioner or another kind of leather conditioner on the boots before using any kind of shoe polish. (I used Lexol all the time back in the day for my equestrian leathers so I know it works great!) Personally I would stick to just leather conditioner as using a polish would take away that worn look as well as a bit of their charm.
Also make sure you take them to a reputable cobbler for any repair work. Someone you knows traditional shoemaking skills. You may also find that with proper conditioning the soles might not need replacing. But that of course depends on how much you plan to wear these lovely boots and on what kinds of surfaces. Pavement and gravel are killers on vintage footwear!!

    1. Thanks for the advice, Emily! I am actually planning on taking them to get a couple repairs done. The soles need a bit of help, but the leather itself is all quite lovely still!

  4. These are so, so timelessly spectacular. Amazing vintage find, honey. I think these are the kind of boots that become instant wardrobe game changers and stay with you until they're in tatters (and then beyond that still! :)).

    1. So true! I pretty sure once they're too worn to wear I'll put them on a shelf and still love them forever.
