As some of you may have discovered in this or this post, I love mixing vintage with my love for the Middle East. Now, thanks to a tip from Jessica (THANK YOU!), I have a skirt reflecting this love! Check out the amazingness:
Look! It has little mosques and buildings and turbaned men and a little market scene!!!
(Now mentally prepare for a picture-heavy post. Aria just did a flippin' awesome job with our mini photo shoot.)
While I'm not usually into the poufiness of 1950s styles, who can resist a swishy crinoline now and then? This skirt is quite full, so I borrowed another crinoline from my friend Hannah and stacked them for extra pouf. While I don't think I'll be wearing this style all the time, it most definitely has a New Look/ princess/ glam feel about it! In fact, I'm more motivated to consider these fuller skirt/dress styles more often and to look into getting a proper crinoline!
Also, I realized just now that this skirt print is actually a color variation from another Middle East novelty print skirt I originally posted about. (I like my color combo better!) How crazy is that, huh?!
Outfit details
skirt: farmhouse vintage (ebay)
sweater: American Eagle
shoes: Payless kids
bangles: gifts from Honeytalk Vintage and my grandmother
Doesn't Aria have a cool style? I sure think she does. |
This is me reenacting the face a girl gave me as she walked by, no exaggeration. And that, of course, is Aria. |
The skirt encompasses everything I love...the pattern, the colors, the shape. Oh, what a wonderful find! I really like the extra crinoline underneath...makes sort of a Doris Day feel with the shots on the sidewalk. The cat eye makeup with the soft hair...so beautiful. You and Aria make quite the fashion team.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! We always have a lot of fun with our mini photo shoots. Aria's getting quite good, don't you think?
DeleteEeep! I'm a sucker for novelty prints and this one is awesome! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Stephanie! I'm definitely starting to get into novelty prints too. They're just so fun!!
DeleteThat skirt is amazing, I love the colors and fun little details in the print! Very cool. Also enjoyed your reenactment of "the look". Ha ha. I seen that same look before too. Usually because I'm all dressed up and pumping gas or shopping for last minute groceries before heading to an 18th century event. But I guess that's understandable. :p

Thank you, Emily! And yes, I imagine that being in 1700s clothing at a gas station or grocery store would definitely get you a lot of "the look"! If they seem rude, I usually try to stare back at people until they feel uncomfortable. They need to learn to be more hospitable (or to, at the very least, LOOK hospitable)!
DeleteI'm so glad you got hold of this skirt and the pictures are adorable. The full skirt is nice on you :)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! I'm liking the swishiness of the skirt, I won't lie!
DeleteOh darling, the skirt reached you so wonderfully quickly! Goodness, it looks incredible on you! (Underline that sentence a hundred times!!!) I adore how you styled it - perfect cardigan colour choice. I am so happy that I was able to help you find this gem. I hope that a Middle Eastern one will land in my closet some day as well!
ReplyDeleteHave a marvelous weekend!

Isn't she?! And thank you very much, Janey!
DeleteWow! I love that skirt! And double layer petticoat is so funny! You look like a princess! We have to learn to ignore the stares from people when we dress well, your face made me laugh. Happy week, darling.
