Vest & Trousers

Flashback Summer: Vest & Trousers - 1930s suit

This morning, apparently it was colder here in Missouri than it was in parts of Alaska.  That's pretty ridiculous.

On top of that, Missouri gets really windy in the winter, so I need properly warm winter gear.  Trousers are always a go-to choice for that, and to dress these up I added a matching vest.

This vest and trouser set is part of a four piece capsule wardrobe I've made.  (I'm still altering and fixing the blazer, so when I'm done with it I'll do a post on all four pieces together.)  I layered the vest on top of this bishop sleeve blouse, and I love how classy it looks!

I ended up wearing it for my birthday and a special dinner at my husband's university.   As a birthday gift, my husband got me this lovely brooch from Doughboy Military Collectibles here in town.  Isn't it fantastic?!  That guy sure knows how to buy presents!

  1. I'm from Southeast Alaska and we finally get snow this winter! It hardly snowed at all the past few years. Now I can wear my 60's - 70's faux fur coats and people are constantly coming up to pet me haha.

  2. I love the way the fitted waistcoat and the floaty sleeves work together. I'm a big fan of pants in the cold weather too, and it's the coats and hats that I really enjoy getting out in winter!

  4. We had such a warm winter last year, that I hardly got to wear my favourite winter coats and furs, so I'm not (too) sad that it's been a colder winter thus far. I might be the only one around who is happy about it but at least there's one of us :)
And- this outfit is fabulous! I feel like it will just go with anything. What a great plan to do four interchangeable pieces! Can't wait to see the rest of them. . .
