Vintage Lookbook Video - Spring 2015

First of all.... I don't know if you've glanced at the header or sidebar since coming to the blog, but you may have noticed a new blog design!  It's a far better, more polished version of what I had been trying to do myself, but Brittany brought it to life and un-hokey'd it for me.  That being said, I'm still updating and sorting things (especially on the new, more specific pages you can find in the navigation bar), so I appreciate your patience as I catch up on things!

NOW, onto the lookbook!

This began with a trip to Youtube when I found out there are such things as lookbook videos.  (I'm sure most of you already knew of those forever ago, but I'm an old lady and don't catch onto these new-fangled interwebs fads as quickly.)  I was APPALLED at the utter lack of vintage lookbooks.  (And by "vintage" I mean the kind of vintage that incorporates mid-century and older looks.  Not 80s jumpsuits and 90s daisy duke shorts.)

So, of course, I had to remedy that.  My amazing friend Maureen offered to help me!

In this video I've got three looks that I've been wearing this spring.  It may look a bit scattered as to the seasonality of each outfit, but that's because Missouri is being RIDICULOUS, as usual, with its spring weather. Only a few days ago I was wearing shorts and sweating, and today I wore a coat to work.  Ridiculous.

However, this lets you readers in both the northern and southern hemispheres check out some clothing that may fit your current season.  I hope you guys enjoy it!  (And if you do, please share, comment, etc. to let me know that you do, and I'll be sure to make more of these videos!)

  1. I'll say it once and I'll say it again, it is so weird hearing bloggers for the first time! I know you've done some other videos but this is the first one of yours that I've watched. This was really cute and I would love to see another one. I also like the videos that Annika does for Pineneedle Collectives where she does a video of what she wore for the week. That might be fun for you to do since you've talked about how your wardrobe changes often.

    1. Isn't it weird?! It's weird hearing my own voice in videos. I sound different in my head.
I'll have to check out Annika's videos; they sound interesting!

  2. OK, now I'm really feeling my age because I didn't know what a lookbook video was until this post. Great video and some really fun outfits. Love that pink jacket! And a big YES to 30s puff sleeves, those are one of my favorite vintage details. :) I think I have that exact green sweater too! If we ever have the chance to meet in person we'll have to do a "twins" photo shoot. :) The blue suit with the sweater is so classic "vintage college girl." Sometimes I wish I could go back to college just so I could rock that look.

    1. Haha, don't feel bad. My Youtube-savvy friend Maureen said we should do a lookbook video sometime and I had to ask what that was. She told me it's a video of outfits and gave me a link, haha. I'm not on the cutting edge of any technological anything, so join the club!

  3. Your new blog design is fantastic! I stopped and took notice of it instantly and really, really like the serene, classic colours your opted for, as well as the elegant over all design. Great revamping work!

Now off to watch your Lookbook video (agreed, it's amazing that we don't see more in the vintage fashion realm and I really hope you start a trend here with yours).

  5. Love the new blog design. :) Plus your lookbook is super cute. I love that you do 30s because not a lot of people do but I think my favorite is your 40s suit. I think I need about 3 more 40s suits.

    1. I think I need like 50 more 40s suits... but, ya know.... I just REALLY love suits. I'm getting a very small collection of them from the 20s-50s. I really love suits.

  8. I love the idea of this video! As you've seen, I've been experimenting with videos myself this year but I haven't quite found my groove in terms of what I want to actually film. I like the idea of making it all about the clothes like you have. Although I hate the idea of talking over the top ;) Bravo! x

  9. The new blog design looks fabulous and I LOVE the lookbook. It is also something that I wasn't really aware was 'a thing' but it is just great to see the clothes in motion and from all angles, as well as having you show off all the details. That peplum belt! That is crazy and amazing! I really want to do some hat videos, and seeing the mini-video snippets that Nora did and then this - I am totally convinced now!

  10. I knew nothing about look book videos but I absolutely loved yours. Three great outfit choices, I enjoyed hearing you talk about them but also seeing them move on the film, it gives an extra feel to what the outfit is like. The fur hat and the pink jacket are amazing pieces!

  12. Oh wowsers! Between yourself, Cici, and the Boyer sisters I really want to dive in and try my hand with some videos ~ so that's it... I'm slating one for the weekend. Going to do it now!

I love your lookbook idea though; such a cute way to highlight outfits. I guess it's more like a "live view" outfit post? You can get more of a few of how the outfit works in reality I guess. A very cute idea indeed! ❤
