Mysterious Prune

Flashback Summer: Mysterious Prune- 1940s vintage outfit/ Mary Kay Mystic Plum/ beret/ autumn/ fall

The other day I wore this outfit, my first time getting to wear a real coat this season!  It's becoming pretty cold here now, so that's pretty exciting.  I just keep thinking, "Baby steps to Thanksgiving break, baby steps to Thanksgiving break..."

I felt that bright red lipstick wouldn't quite go with the cloudy skies and more muted color palette of my outfit, so I ventured down the hall of my dorm to see if I could borrow a different color.  My friend Emily (whom you saw in this post) recommended this purply-red amazingness.  It's a lipstick from Mary Kay called "Mystic Plum", but the French translation of the name looks an awful lot like "Mysterious Prune" to me, ha!

My friend Laura also gifted me with a lovely raspberry scrub, just because!  How nice is that?!  It was just a purply sort of day, complete with matching body scrub.  If you'd like to know, I'll be doing do a write up of it and the lipstick soon to give you more details!

And a P.S.:  I need to resew a couple buttons on this coat, but I just haven't had time!  Anybody else need a mending day as badly as I do?!

  1. I love the skirt! Do you happen to remember what pattern it was made from?

    1. I do remember! It's Simplicity 4529, a pencil skirt pattern from the 50s or 60s. I highly recommend it! It's a quick, great pattern!

  2. I have a stack of mending to do as well, boo.
I really love this outfit, you look so lovely :) The lipstick is the perfect colour with it as well, it really picks out the burgundy colours in the blouse.

  5. Gorgeous lip hue! I love a vampy, 1930s inspired burgundy, wine or plum hue, too. In fact, I'd say that Diva from MAC (which is a matte burgundy shade) is one of my three most frequently worn lipsticks.

Terrific autumn ensemble! It's coat season here again too, and I'm looking forward to wearing the vintage Persian lamb's wool style one I got for a massively good deal at a yard sale last summer.
