My Sewing Room

Flashback Summer: My Sewing Room

Hello again, friends!  It's been a couple weeks since I last posted, but I'm back!  Part of my blog absence had to do with finally finishing unpacking and cleaning our new-to-us house we moved into a month ago.  It's nothing fancy, but today I'm going to share some pictures of my sewing room with all of you.

I'm so excited to have a sewing room.  SO EXCITED.  It's pretty big, has two big windows, and it holds the table we bought of a friend.  I've never had a real, big table I could cut fabric on!  I've always used the floor.  Am I moving' on up to the East Side or what?!

I'll admit, my sewing room isn't exactly Pinterest-perfection, but it works really well for me.  It's functional, and I'm just so glad to have a whole room to keep my projects in that I don't care!

  1. Yay for a sewing room! Seems like you are settling into your new home. :)

  2. What a great room! Who cares if it's not "pinterest perfect"? 90% of those sacrificed space for cozy cuteness. I like that you have a lot of space to work with. So airy -- even amidst a project you'll still feel like you have room to breathe!

And your hair looks darling. :-D

    1. I agree! Sometimes functional just can't look pretty. I need so many little tools and bits in the course of a project, and I like to leave them out for easy access instead of putting them in pretty boxes I have to open every time.

  4. Such a lovely room. Enjoy all that space. My sewing room is also our bedroom, so it an get a bit tight (the ironing board takes up the kitchen). Your hair suits you so well

  5. Nothing beats having a separate sewing room, and a real big table to lay things out on makes such a difference! Congrats on the upgrade!

  6. Nice Post! You've got a sewing room that you look proud to have, as I do. Isn't the designated space for sewing the best!

  7. Oh man, when I finally got a sewing room of my own I was so stoked. Granted, its still used by my family as a junk room and a place to iron....but its a place I can sew! Nothing made me more frustrated than using the tiny kitchen table and having people move my stuff as a I was sewing, or having someone watch the tv on full volume and being unable to concentrate. I still have to use the floor to sew and because of my back (spinal fusion) I don't end up sewing as much as I like but it could be worse!

Pinterest perfect sewing rooms that get used probably don't exist :P Functionality over cuteness every day. The room actually belonged to a little girl before my family bought the house so my sewing room walls are this gorgeous pink purple with flowery wallpaper with horses, castles and princesses. I think that makes it cute enough for me :)

  8. Having your own functional sewing space is such an AWESOME feeling!! And function is key! That was one of the things I was super excited about when we bought our house last fall. The room I'm using now will eventually become a guest room but we need to do a little work before I take over the room I really want to use. But I like my space, it's bright and comfortable. This past weekend I purchased an old dresser to put in the room and was FINALLY able to reduce some of the clutter. The drawers are now full of fabric! :) Happy dance! Thanks for sharing your sewing space. I love seeing other blogger's work spaces.

  11. That's wonderful, Emileigh! How exciting to have a little space all your own for your sewing projects! My bedroom used to be my sewing space, but since "Mrs. Hope Chest" moved in this month, she kicked out my Singer Slantomatic to the basement where Slanto resides quite content ;)

  15. This is so beautiful! I'm hoping when my partner and i move houses again i can coerce him into letting me have a space like this for my sewing. Keep posting, i get so excited seeing a new blogpost, as i'm new to vintage sewing myself i'm constantly on the hunt for bloggers creating reproduction vintage pieces using original techniques. Perhaps you could do a post about projects you are currently working on or going to attempt in the future xxx
